Say hello to my little friend - his supporting cast will soon be arriving, as the spring migration for ruby throated hummingbirds proceeds.
He loves this perch, guarding his territory
while waiting to feed again...and again.
There is another male, and they begrudgingly share the four feeders out now. It will
grow to eight or ten as the season progresses. Last year, at the peak, we had any
where from 12 -24 hummers at any one time, more when clutches hatched. That
was like watching a three ring circus - the juveniles are hilarious. More photos of these
wonderful creatures will follow - of that, you may be certain.
None here yet, but then again I've been moving slow as far as setting out the feeders.
ReplyDeleteThere was a sighting in Rochester yesterday!
