Horsey windpump is a drainage windmill cared for by the National Trust. The current structure dates to 1912 although it is built on the foundations of an older mill. It came in to the care of the National Trust in 1948, 5 years after a lightning strike stopped the sails from working. The sails were eventually replaced and other renovations work carried out over the years but further storm damage and the ravages of time meant that more restoration was required. This finally commenced in 2016 resulting in the sails turning again in 2019 for the first time since the lightning strike in 1943. The mill is a grade II listed building and is open to the public in the summer months but was closed when I stopped by last month.
