This was something I was working on for another site about using cell phone cameras and I thought I'd pull some of the images to post on my SmugMug page. Hope you find something interesting there.

I know exactly what you mean about the quantity of cellphone photographs out there. Now there are "professional cellphone photographers" who want to sell you a tutorial or two on how to shoot photos with your cellphone. I have nothing against cellphone photos and there are instance that I taken one or two photos here and there with my cellphone because of its convenience. But for me, for whatever reason, I find that I do a better job of clicking with the bulky camera around my neck than the cellphone.
ReplyDeleteI do as well, but I'm getting ready to do a Virtual Photography Showcase for the senior website and I know, for a fact, that the overwhelming majority of the members of my group use cell phones, primarily iPhones that their kids talked them into getting. Then they post shots of deer in a field and jet contrails and sunsets over the distant hills! It's not the camera, as I showed in those last examples, but how you use it in the proper situation. That will be a hard sell to my group.
ReplyDeleteBTW I should had said this before, but that photo and that truck are truly cool. Love the clear, metalic look of the vehicle.
DeleteSometimes I use the phone, by I am useless when I use it. Often the screen is too dark and I can't really see what I am shooting. The biggest problem is that the shooting angle is different. Portraits, in particular come out badly. This is me, not the cellphone camera. I think I am just too accustomed to the SLR viewfinder, and while you look adjustments you csn make. I like Sammy Samsung but Chris Canon is my best buddy.
ReplyDeleteSome great images there. I prefer to us a camera but it's not possible to carry it everywhere all the while so a cell in your pocket helps avoid an otherwise missed shot.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter - I usually have either my Nikon or my Lumix "pocket" camera with me, but the reason I took those images is for this Virtual Photography Showcase presentation for seniors about using your cell phone camera effectively on another site. I'm trying to show them that you can do more than take just "snapshots" and that the best camera is the one you have, so use it well.
