I am always amazed when looking at these guys closely. While they all look alike.....none are alike. I know there are different versions of them all but at first glance ...they are just humming birds....at second, third glance each have distinct differences.....I am rambling ;)
I know what you mean. It's the light. This is one of the females, and she looks so different when she is at the feeder in the bright, direct sun, bleached out and almost featureless. This view also doesn't show her longer, larger body - I think she's gravid (pregnant) and we should have another clutch soon. Just what I need - I go through a gallon of nectar in less than 72 hours!
