Friday Form + Photo of the Day July 7, 2023

Stone and Steeple

This photo was pulled from my archives from some 15+ years ago. It is a shot I make in the Philadelphia area at a colonial-era church. On a whim, I juxtaposed a grave marker with the church steeple. Later I changed it to black and white. I thought it came out well and (now) makes the category "form" quite well.

Wishing I was back in Acadia National Park

This photo is very representative of the many, many years I've traveled to Maine and to Acadia National Park, specifically. It is my happy place. There is almost nowhere I'd rather be than there. This summer scene brings back memories of the land, the fresh air, the fog, the sea, the ponds, lakes and streams. My son got engaged there!  I've been there in every season but winter.  Ah, therein lies the problem -  winter. Winters are brutal and I have a spouse who does not care for the extra cold and snow and I love her more than Acadia - so we stay here and visit often....sigh

  1. I really like both of these shots. Your quote reminded me of the country song, "There's No Future In The Past."

  2. A very good composition, thanks for turning it to monochrome.
