Saturday was the annual PD Ross Distance Challenge between the two local universities, Carleton and University of Ottawa. This particular event was a rowing challenge on the canal and as my daughter wanted to go we walked down to the start point.
Experience and advice has now taught us that rowing regattas rarely start at the stated time so I looked around while we were waiting for the boats to show up. The Pretoria Bridge offered up many rivets as still life.
The boats finally came into view after rowing down the canal from Dows Lake where the launch was and where the finish line was...
Manoeuvring into position for the start
Ah, but wait! The canal tour boat suddenly appeared and the boats had to scatter!
Finally in the start position...
And they are off!
That looks like a lot of fun. Your first two shots were rive . . . no, I won't say it. Maybe John will. Anyhow, they were cool. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteOh, Tom, you are so predictable! I'd have said they were so good they were nuts! Great shots Abigail - perfect vantage point.
