SUNDAY NATURE - Cycling Europe

Early autumn pampers us with warm sunny days. Perfect time for a bicycle trip. I have just started in Bavaria and cycle to Austria to visit Tirol and more. Here are a couple of pictures I snapped on the way: from Augsburg to the Austrian border. It was quite a challenging day, 100 miles so I feel knackered but happy.

    1. Thanks Tom, thanks Jovi. So far this was my longest distance covered by (my simple supermarket bicycle) in a day. I was more like forced to do it because of… Oktoberfest. During this time, the prices of hotels in and around Munich are so ridiculously high that it makes sense to stay away from them and choose other places to stay overnight. The hotels of my two favourite chains happened to be quite far away from each other in Bavaria 😁. Now, I continue at a slightly slower pace.

    1. Thanks, Tom. After a long (more than a fifteen-year) break, I started cycling again. It was always my dream to cycle the world, sonI started at the age of… 51. Better late than never.

I have some friends in Poland who cycle a lot, who did a bicycle tour from Alaska to California for example. However, when it comes to cycling, I prefer Europe for the simple fact that infrastructure is prepared for that here and all of us are aware of cyclists on the roads. I would not dare to cycle in Africa where I lived. Latin American or Asian traffic is also a hair raising experience.

In the USA, it was so fun to meet and talk to people on Amtrak that cycling would be a waste. Cycling around Europe lets you discover off-the-beaten-track places and be very close to nature. So, this time it is a bit of Germany, Austria, Northern Italy and the French Alps.
