  1. Cool! I love images like this. The camera settings surprised me: it looks like there was a ton of light, but the ISO was at 2000. (My own camera settings surprise me sometimes, too. I rarely go all-manual, and sometimes there are weird decisions. The iphone picture I posted today has bright sunlight, but the phone decided to use f/2.)

    1. Thanks! I'm shooting in full sun with the 55-300, which is a beast of a lens - no plastic there, like with my 70-300. On days like this, I'm using Program mode because I'm looking for insects, flowers in the breeze, hummingbirds and anything else and don't want to be constantly changing settings as I move around to get exposure and sharpness the best. Also, there is always the issue of stability, especially given issues with my spinal stenosis - arms get numb pretty easily. With ON1, I have no issues whatsoever with noise up to ISO 6400. I rarely shoot ISO 100 anymore except on a tripod.

    2. Yeah, I usually use Program mode except when there's a special need for shutter or aperture priority. And I use auto-ISO. So I'm often surprised at the combinations my camera comes up with. If I was a "real" photographer I'd pay more attention, I suppose.

    3. "Real" photographers care about the composition, not how they get it. With these new mirrorless cameras that bracket and focus stack automatically, it's less and less about technical expertise.
