Jose Luis, King of his Land

A TRIBUTE TO JOSE LUIS
I met Jose Luis more than 25 years ago, He leads a simple life just outside of the mountain town of Tarma in the mountains. He is a weaver, a shepherd, a builder, a farmer, a man of all trades who lives a humble existence on his land. He follows the ancient cosmovision of the Incas and is well known in the town for his wisdom. This post contains photos from previous visits as well as during my last visit a couple of months  ago. The cover photo is of an Inca image crafted on one of the walls he has just built.

    1. We did this trip for years with 5th Grade students. A third went to the jungle, a third to the sierra, a third to a desert coastal town. The three towns were about the same size. On returning to Lima they worked together to inquire about the way the different environments effect peoples lives, industry, sgriculture etc.

    1. I live a priviliged life here in Peru. It does well to remember that many people do not have the same possibilities as I have. Many people live in poverty and do not have the faith and vision of life tha Jose Luis has.
