Nope, no rain to speak of. The water company's telling us to conserve water. We got a bit this morning, but none expected the rest of the week. The picture was taken up in Highlands, NC, in mid-October.
Sorry you're in the same boat as us. I'm so jealous you were in Highlands - spent so much time at The Mountain Retreat that I practically became staff there at one time.☺️
I just looked up The Mountain Retreat. I'd seen references to it in the past, but somehow didn't recall it was in Highlands. Next time we're up there I'll make a point of checking it out.
It's a Unitarian Universalist center and, while I lived in Charlotte, I ran the HS programs at UUCC. So, every spring and winter, I and a few other fools, took dozens of teenagers for retreats there. It is some of the oldest exposed rock in North America and there are 400 yo wind blown, snarled oak trees up there. One winter, we recorded a wind chill of -40°F. Staggeringly beautiful and a wonderful place for a personal retreat (did that a few times, as well). That road up used to be quite...challenging. I'm sure they've made improvements since I was last there (1999).☺️
Very very nice shot, Tom!! Another photo to frame!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nancy!
DeleteYes, good one Tom
ReplyDeleteThank you, Peter!
ReplyDeleteWow what a capture love the angle and the detail
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tom. With the iPhone I was able to get up close to it.
DeleteGood one Tom! Have you guys been getting rain? Until yesterday, we've been pretty much without for almost a month - hence, no 'shrooms☹️
