This is a companion to my Thursday Expressions post. I've taken a lot of pictures of mannequins, and one reason is how they sit on the line between object and human. They look great in our clothes, but if you look close, their status as "object" becomes clear. This one has been scratched, chipped, and had a hole drilled in "her" ear (zoom in for a good look). It's a hard life, being a mannequin -- even if you don't technically have a life.
On second thought, it occurred to me that most humans have also been scratched and chipped, and many have had holes drilled in their ears.

ReplyDeleteOr holes, burns, bruises and deep cuts in many other places - I'm living proof! I do like this because I enjoy the details. Also, think of what the surface might have on it - cooties galore!
