Lovely shot but I preferred the 'Camellia' version. It gives off a more recent shot even though it has been abandoned. The b&w version has more like many centuries ago kind of photo and it is not that 'wow". Maybe if the photo has been bigger perhaps it makes a difference?? This is my point of view.
Love it! Abandoned structures are always a draw for me. Unfortunately, most of the ones I see are on private property behind ranch/farm fences. The reason I prefer the B&W is because of the detail it shows in the foreground - it gives separation to the grasses and weeds.
That's the problem John. You will probably have seen I snap abandoned airfield buildings from time to time but for the most part they are on private farmland and I have to rely on the zoom. This cottage is also on private land but it was part of the Irish farm we stopped on in July so we were allowed to wander. This building was last in use 60 years ago but there are tentative plans to restore it to a holiday cottage. That will sure be a lot of money and work!
Love the "Camellia" version for all the same reasons as Nancy, as well as the fact that I NEED color in my life. B&W is jut too depressing (imho), it's like having perpetual grey days 🌅.
The thing is, the two photos just say different things to me. Can't decide which I like best because they both have their unique qualities...,...well,,,,, if I had to decide I would take a staab at the one in b+w.

ReplyDeleteI've looked at FB and I definitely like the coloured version.
DeleteI'm inclined to agree. I think B & w wanders off theme a bit. Thanks Nancy

DeleteI know what you mean - zoom is the only way most times. Those restored cottages would probably be a draw for the "nostalgia and ambiance" crowd.☺️
