Thanks! They are usually used as tracing pads for drawing, cost less than $20. You can use them horizontally or vertically. These were mostly vertical shots with the light pad providing backlight and I made various exposures from 8-30 seconds, then layered and masked them to preserve the high key background and laid on the backgrounds/textures.
My favorite from your collection is this one here. I love the edit you have created, looks like a painting. I can't remember if you and I have talked about Jackie Kramer and her artistic flower photographers.
My favorite, too - the others were playing around to try for something like that. The base edit (stacking/masking) was done in ON1 and the styling in SPE. Harold Davis has several videos (long and sometimes boring) that introduced the technique to me. In PS, it took him over a dozen steps and I did mine in half that many. Of course, his are just a wee bit superior☺️ We haven't talked about Jackie Kramer, but I have seen her work and it is stunning - I'm trying to work on shooting/editing techniques to try for similar results. No luck so far!
Thought you should know....I am back because this is absolutely stunning and I am not sure if you are correct in saying Harold's are a wee bit superior. My suggestion is to print this one, to really see what a great job you have done!
You are too kind! It'll go in my next book, for sure. I just did another one for my brother and sister-in-law as a Christmas present with images from our Alaska cruise.
These are beautiful! I've never used a light pad. Is it a lighted surface you place the flower on?
