  1. Nice one! The lighting and detail are really good. On the plant, what's the function of those purplish pods -- do they turn into blossoms, or release seeds, or . . . ?

    1. Thanks - my favorite spring botanical. Another image similar to this was awarded first place in a local contest last year. These are flower buds, which will produce seeds. This plant has so many common names that it drives me crazy - red buckeye, horse chestnut, red horse chestnut. Its scientific name is Aesculus pavia and it is in the horse chestnut family. Never seen a horse eat one, though.🤣
