Umbrella Trees

The second of my posts on trees in Tuscany is about the umbrella trees whose distinctive canopies dot the countryside.  Occasionally a single tree, usually they are found in interesting clumps.

It threatened rain as we approached this clump:
 

And then it did indeed rain, it poured.  

 

 

And then the sun came out at the same time! 

 

As it cleared the late afternoon sun was beautiful...
