Street Photography - Architecture - Daily Life

I'm posting this partly in response to a question Nancy asked about my street photography shot.  In our town (Franklin, Tennessee) there's an enormous former stove factory that has been repurposed into a multi-use facility with food, shops, offices, a theater company, performance hall, a bar, artist workshops, and lots of other stuff.  It's cleverly named The Factory.  It's very popular.  Here's a shot of part of it.  This area is filled with tables like a school cafeteria, and people love to hang out there.  It's also a great place for photography, and you'll see a bunch of shots from there from me and Sherri Mitchell-Snider in the next few days.

  1. I saw and read your fist post...natuaraly I followed here. I find that these (whole atmosphere) ( using this word for a lack of better word) are becoming popular....I personally don't enjoy them. Noise level too high, ambiance not as cozy (more cold than warm) and not necessarily where I want to spend a lot of my time (all being my opinion) but the younger generation seem to enjoy it. We have recently (in our town) opened a spot with old kabooses becoming "fastfood" sites and a sitting area around these kabooses looking like picinic tables at a campsite. Not sure if this site will make it.....considering the weather we have in winter...but someone has invested. At least yours look like they will fair well in winter.

    1. Yes, it is indeed noisy and not cozy, and it's very busy on Saturday mornings like this. The local farmer's market is in the parking lot on Saturday morning, so the farmer's market plus the attractions in the factory turn the visit into an event. During the week it's a lot mellower - but still not cozy. The place was recently greatly remodeled and made shinier and more colorful. Some of the previous long-time businesses couldn't afford the higher rent and had to leave. We were only there for the photos -- well, that plus the barbecue restaurant. 😊
