I like everything about this photo...the colors, the shapes, the texture. The only thing I wish for is that it was a tad bigger. I did enlarge but my eye wanted a tad more view to the right.
Thanks Camellia. The original image had a bit more to the right but it was just a plain wood edge to the door. I cropped it out as it didn't seem to add anything to the light and glass of the rest of the image. Wonder if I should have left it in!
I know what you're talking about, Camellia. I really like the colors, textures, lines, & POV. Something about the image makes it look a little tall and skinny to me, though actually it's not (between 4:5 and 3:2). Maybe it's the vertical lines. Maybe the tall & skinny illusion makes the eye want to see more on the sides. Given that, maybe cropping it into a more square format would make the eye happier. (Also, in messing with it I found it looks pretty cool upside down.)
You are probably right about the lines Tom...leading our eyes to want more. I don't think the plain wood would add what our eyes want. I would say Tom's suggestion of squaring it off sounds better.
