Tuesday Daily Life

I spent an hour or two at Chinatown, just observing the daily life of the various people - passerby, worshippers, tourists and even the cleaner. It was very interesting.*

The same scenario plays on repeat till the temple closed for the evening and tomorrow, it continues.

The cleaner worked under the hot sun as he made sure there were no debris on the steps

Worshippers lit up the incense sticks  and then place it in the incense burner

It was getting busy. The etiquette when going into the temple was knees had to covered, no low cut tops or spaghettis  string teeshirt. There would be someone in charge who would indicate to a pile of scarfs at the side for you to wrap a scarf round your waist like a sarong to cover your legs or  your shoulder

Mother and daughter?? had visited the temple and making their way out.

The lady on the left after praying had placed her incense stick in the incense burner.

I was in the area where the dress etiquette does not apply as it was a common area. Here we see someone on the left  doing a quick reverence; the couple placing their incense sticks in the incense burner.

I love this photo as you could see the old lady holding the wooden door to help herself to walk across the step as she looked  for the incense stick

* Please kindly note that I was super quiet and respectful to the people who were praying, etc and I had not obstruct or distract anyone from entering or leaving the temple.

  1. Very interesting photos and your commentaries help understand what is going on. As I looked at the photos and people's eyes I wondered.....did some of the people see you taking photos? I know how cautious you are when it comes to street photography...just a wonder. 🙂
