Mono Sunday

San Remo, Italy (Ligurian Riviera): it is most unusual to see palm trees growing next to a Russian Orthodox church. I took this picture on one of my cycling trips to CΓ΄te d’Azur.

    1. Thanks Tom, thanks Jobi. The Russian Otrhodox chiche with a palm tree on its side was quite an unusual sight.

    1. Yes, I was dazzled and puzzled. I lived in Russia, so obviously, I associate this architectural style with snow and birch trees.

  5. I bet the inside of that church is a sight (site) to be seen.

    1. Hi Camellia, it was closed at that time of the day, so I could not get inside. What made the sight so unusual to me was the palm tree. We associate onion shaped Orthodox cupolas with Russian winter. There is a large Orthodox Church near Tzarevich Avenue in Nice but, if memory serves me well, it is surrounded by “normal” (πŸ˜€) trees.
