It finally felt like spring yesterday when I joined the SPAO walk organized by the RA Photo Club through the Little Italy area of Ottawa. The School of Photographic Arts: Ottawa aka SPAO together with a number of funding agencies coordinated a large project of outdoor photography from artists who applied from across Canada and persuaded a number of local businesses to allow the artwork to be displayed on their buildings. It is a fascinating walk and shows art ranging from straightforward photography to way out conceptual art. The wall art enhances some of the public art already on the street and brings a vibrancy to the area that is unsurpassed.
There will be two posts, one (this one) celebrating the art and a later one showing some of the architecture in the area which ranges from highly modern to historic old houses originally housing the local labour force.
Some of the art lurks around corners and behind parked cars...
This tree is an endlessly glowing in the light artifact...
Public art found in front of a restaurant...
Some really intersting art. What a treat to be able to be able to display one's art to the public in this manner
