It was intended as one. Known as the Pink Palace, it is now part of the Museum of Science and History in Memphis. Construction begun by the man that started the Piggly Wiggly grocery store at the turn of the century, he never completed it due to the stock market crash that led to the Great Depression. Taken over by the city of Memphis and completed in 1930.
