    1. Hi John! When I came for vacation to the USA, I could not believe my own eyes: Aldi store in Schiller Park/Chicago. Prices weee twice as high as at home (checked on chocolate, cheese and sausages, soft drinks) but it looked quite popular judging by the number of shoppers. I got even more surprised when I found… Lidl. How can these businesses survive in the States? I always though Americans are used to the incredible selection of food you have at Walmart etc, and not two types of ketchup and three types of mayonnaise that European discount places offer 🙂.

  2. "Outside the heat rages, here the freshness cools."I had to get it translated but I will say this...the vegetables and fruits at our Aldi here are not the freshest. They are fresh if you use them the same day as purchased after that freshness dissapears very quickly. But their steaks and salmon are worth the trip.

    1. The truth is heat rages in Slovenia, indeed. You are also right: fresh fruit and veggies are best to be avoided in Aldi, Lidl etc. It is not even the question of (un)freshness. Tomatoes or gherkins we have here come from Spain of The Netherlands and taste like water (that is why we call them water bombs), sometimes mouldy water.

    1. I like this photoshopped ice cone. And you cannot help loving Slovene. The language looks and sounds very sweet to a Polish speaker
