Thanks. Yep, I thought that also. I was a little further away in order to achieve some DOF. Cropping did not look good-- lost the soft outside petals too much. I think I would need to re-shoot in order to get it right. Every photo is a lesson for me.
I love the patterns made by the petals, and the color is striking. Like Peter B., I might have gotten in closer or cropped it to eliminate the black edges, but it works well this way too.
