Actually, a week old - just fully opened yesterday. For our botany lesson today, the "hangy-downy" things are the anthers atop the filament - together they form the stamen or male reproductive organ. The particles, which will show up soon, are pollen grains or sperm. In a complete flower (both sexes present), the pistil or female organ (tall slender stalk in the back) receives the pollen which will migrate down to the ovary. I used to gross out students during pine pollen drop-that's when everything turns yellow- by telling them that is sperm all over everything. I loved that par of teaching.🤣
A brand new one! I can tell from the "hangy-down things" (to borrow and EXCELLENT term from Tom) are still smooth without particles. Nice cropping
