A book is never waisted

If I have time , i still read a book. It seems to have a relaxing influence on me and it allows to use your fantasy.

The latest book I finished was " 1984 " by George Orwell. Found it a bit disturbing, that it was written in 1948 and is pretty actual today.

Personally I find that from every book you read there is something remaining in your mind, and your horizon just gets that bit bigger.

  1. Only ever seen the film of that, which was a bit grim, but do like to read and should get a bit more time now

  2. This is a fabulous idea for a post. I haven't read 1984 since school days.

  3. "Newspeak" is the idea from that book that really hit me. I love books, and your photos. It's fun to see what I think is Dutch? I really like the limited focus, which you put on capital letters and numbers so they appear surprisingly large. And the spotted page made me smile. Very interesting subject and execution.

  4. 1984 and the concept behind it, is one of the books we read and discussed when I was in high school and one of the books I ended up teaching when I was teaching high school. It is really "scary" how much of it relates to our society now a days. Another one I highly recommend is Kurt Vonnegut’s Harrison Bergeron. That one is worth a read as well. They also made a movie out of it, which I showed in the classroom....the discussion that followed were out of this world. I was able to find the video version I showed in the classroom on Youtube if you are interested.
