This unusual cloud is called mammatus clouds. They are rare, pouch-like, or "cottonball" cloud formations and may be spotted in the late afternoon or dusk after a, or during thunderstorm.
I'm glad you saw that and captured it. I've read about those clouds but never saw one. Like Tom T., my first thought was that it looked like something out of a movie, maybe Close Encounters.
