This is a reflection of the tree and its foliage on a shallow creek. What looks like bark on the lower 2/3 of the tree is actually rocks on the creek bottom. The shadow cast by the tree on the water allows us to see the rocks below. The tree bark is actually white; you can see that at the top of the tree. If you look carefully at the bottom part of the picture you can see traces of the rocks amid the leaves too.
