Flamingos have marvelous feathers on their backsides. The feathers look almost plasticky, and they are curved. To dry them, the flamingo fluffs them up and you can see that there is almost no meat there—just gorgeously colored feathers arranged in an exquisite pattern. This is a young bird, as its coloring is still quite pale.
